Thom grew up in Southeast, somewhat rural Michigan. Having plenty of open spaces around his house, the McNeil's became known as a family who would take in strays. Those were Thom's first experiences with these wonderful animals. His mother became a dog groomer, and Thom's education continued.
Throughout his life, dog's have been a constant. Beginning two years ago, Thom began in earnest walking dogs. He has had clients call him a "natural" referring to his demeanor around all animals, not just dogs. When he isn't walking dogs, he teaches Spanish and writes and produces music.
